InsurTech LIVE: Meet Alchemy Crew CEO Sabine VanderLinden

Ahead of InsurTech LIVE this October, we run you through the experiences and expertise of our accomplished guest speakers. 

Among them is Sabine VanderLinden, Founder, CEO & Managing Partner of Alchemy Crew Ventures. 

We look at VanderLinden’s career to date, and track her rise to becoming ‘The InsurTech Queen.’

Sabine VanderLinden, Alchemy Crew Founder, CEO & Managing Partner

Beginning her career at Lloyd’s of London, VanderLinden was one of the youngest regulatory officers to be appointed. In her role, she was responsible for assessing the performance of Lloyds’ operating entities – interviewing C-level executives and providing recommendations on ways to mitigate the risks of financial loss. 

With experience at Lloyd’s under her belt, VanderLinden then had a six-year stint at IBM UK, first as a Financial Services Senior Consultant before becoming Industry Solutions Principal Consulting Lead. 

She took her first move to a client partnership role in 2007, becoming FICO’s first-ever European Insurance Client Partner for the provision of enterprise risk management solutions 

VanderLinden then had stints as a Director at Pegasystems and as Global Head of Market Strategy and Propositions for SSP Worldwide, all the while producing podcasts as Chief Podcast Officer at Sabine VdL. 

This isn’t VanderLinden’s only experience in content production. In 2017 she co-edited The INSURTECH Book, the first crowdsourced insurance book published by Wiley in May 2019.

This came after time at Rainmaking Innovation, where she became a partner in 2017. All the while, VanderLinden was performing advisory duties to the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), helping it stay abreast of market conditions. 

She was also investing during this time, particularly in Startupbootcamp, an accelerator that she co-founded and became CEO of in 2017. 

Today, VanderLinden is an investment advisor at Mandalore Partners and Redsand Ventures, and, most notably, is Co-founder, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Partner at Alchemy Crew.

In this role, VanderLinden delivers venture labs that accelerate, industrialise and democratise the way tech ventures engage with corporations, helping her cement her position as ‘The InsurTech Queen’. 

In addition, VanderLinden is a tech advisor to Invest Tokyo, a member of the Fortune 500 executives club Punks & Pinstripes, and a founding member of Chief UK. 

She has also received an Honorary Senior Visiting Fellow in the Faculty of Management from Bayes Business School.
