Assurant Launches First Multifamily Tech Support

Assurant launches an industry-first InsurTech support for multifamily housing, which aims to help residents and managers

Assurant, Inc., a global leader in business services, has announced the launch of Assurant TechPro, a tech support service tailored for the multifamily housing industry. This new offering provides both property managers and residents with immediate tech support for consumer electronics issues, marking a first in the industry.

Assurant TechPro allows property managers to offer their residents on-demand access to expert tech support via phone or chat. This service aims to reduce the number of tech-related maintenance requests property managers receive. Additionally, it includes an app with 24/7 self-help content, enabling residents to independently resolve tech issues anytime.

The launch comes amid growing demand for smart home technologies, with US renters increasingly seeking properties equipped with smart amenities. Research from Assurant shows that 20% of maintenance calls to property managers involve tech support issues. Moreover, 86% of renters believe that having tech support services available enhances the overall brand perception of property management companies.

"Our findings indicate that the average person owns nearly seven connected devices and will require tech support at some point," said Joe Settimi, Senior Vice President of Renters Solutions at Assurant. "For property managers, offering Assurant TechPro not only distinguishes their property but also mitigates tech-related tasks and potentially increases revenue."

Personal TechPro and the broader software ecosystem

Assurant TechPro, also part of Personal TechPro, offers comprehensive technical support for a wide array of smart home devices. This service is primarily accessed through the Pocket Geek Home app, which facilitates various support features from device setup and troubleshooting to optimising smart home usage with tips and tricks. Users can access unlimited technical support for devices like laptops, smartphones, smart TVs, home security systems, and more, for a monthly fee​.

Personal TechPro promises a high-tech, high-quality support experience with an impressive 99% first-time resolution rate. It's designed to handle virtually any issue across all connected devices in a household, supported by a U.S.-based team of highly trained technicians. The service operates through multiple channels, including phone, email, online portals, and even screen sharing, providing flexible and immediate assistance to users​.

In addition to technical support, Assurant's Personal TechPro includes educational resources to help consumers get the most out of their devices, and proactive troubleshooting via the Pocket Geek Home app. This includes step-by-step guides and quick fixes for common issues.
