Outdoorsy announces Roamly expansion as RV market booms
The US-based RV rental and travel marketplace, Outdoorsy, has announced its expansion plans, which include rolling out it’s insurtech arm Roamly, in Canada.
Roamly has just finished its beta testing phase in the US and works in conjunction with Outdoorsy’s platform to offer fast, digital insurance to RV renters and outdoor travellers. The products the insurtech provides are for recreational vehicle owners, thereby circumventing the commercial exclusion clause that can hinder rental activity online.
According to reports, Outdoorsy has formed a strategic partnership with Aon - the leading global professional services firm that provides a broad range of risk, retirement and health solutions.
RV insurance in Canada
The market in Canada has been targeted by Outdoorsy because it is the second-largest RV rental market outside the US.
As part of the insurtech’s Canadian launch, Roamly has a new CIO, - namely Aaron Ammar, the company’s chief insurance officer. Ammar formerly co-founded the underwriting company Y-Risk. His latest position at Roamly will see him build the Canadian team.
Speaking about the insrutech’s entry into Canada, Ammar said, "There is a significant opportunity to bring new insurance offerings to the RV space, and we are just getting started. Roamly is taking a customer-first approach to bring immediate value to our clients with better pricing, digital tools for policy management, and 'rent ready' coverage that allows for marketplace rentals. The demand for relevant RV products is increasing rapidly, and we are excited to provide new and innovative solutions."
Outdoorsy co-founder and CEO Jeff Cavins, said he was looking forward to Roamly’s next step - and that it would be entirely beneficial for private RV owners and renters. He explained, “The insurance industry had been making a clerical error regarding RV insurance for the past 30 years. We can all buckle up for our most anticipated journey yet — the continued build-out of Roamly and new RV insurance offerings.”
Cavins added, “We know there's a problem to be solved in the RV insurance industry because we continue to hear these frustrated pleas from our customers."
