Crop insurance business AgriSompo recruits for new SVP role

Mondale Smith has been appointed as SVP, International Operations Deputy at AgriSompo, which provides a multinational crop insurance platform.

The platform – operated by commercial and P&C insurer Sompo International – combines insurance cover with specialist software that provides proactive agricultural risk management for farmers and ranchers. AgriSompo is one of North America’s leading writers of crop insurance.

In this newly created role, Mr Smith will oversee all of the company’s day-to-day operations – including managing and developing its risk portfolio and agricultural modelling outside the US. In particular, he will focus on the European, Asia-Pacific and Latin American markets in close collaboration with Sompo International’s operations teams.

Smith brings ‘strong track record’ to AgriSompo

He was previously President and COO at EMC Reinsurance Company, managing a diverse portfolio of products and services across 31 countries. Under his watch, the company most recently generated US$180m in annual premiums. Before that, he oversaw strategy, operations and risk control for Berkley Agribusiness, following a stint at American Family Insurance.
