Vanessa Chen, Co-founder, CHOYS
Vanessa Chen is the Co-founder and COO of CHOYS - the digital insurtech solution that converts employees’ daily wellbeing actions into organisational impact and rewards. She is a certified coach with an Applied Positive Psychology degree.
Prior to starting CHOYS, Vanessa has had various experiences in tech companies across China & SEA. She is most passionate about workplace culture and diversity, equality, and inclusion.
Eric Hui, CEO, Zurich Insurance (Hong Kong)
As the Chief Executive Officer of Zurich Insurance (Hong Kong) and Chairman of Zurich General Insurance Company (China), Eric spearheads all strategic development to drive Zurich’s Life Insurance and General Insurance businesses in Hong Kong and in the Greater China context towards profitable growth, and is responsible for Board functions across Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou. Chairing The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI) in the office term 2020/2021, Eric is currently the Chairman of the General Insurance Council (GIC), a Governing Committee Member and the Chairman of GIC InsurTech Task Force and Task Force on Green Insurance.
Michelle Ip, CEO, OneDegree Global
Michelle Ip has more than a decade of experience in insurance and insurtech start-ups, including greenfield market entries and business development across multiple countries in ASEAN like Cambodia, Myanmar and East Asia. She is a professionally trained CPA and started her career at PwC in assurance and corporate advisory.
Her career in the insurance industry started at AIA on the strategy team before moving to Manulife eventually becoming Associate Director. Michelle helped Manulife set up the first life insurance company in Cambodia in 2012 and was previously the founding member of the digital business of FWD Hong Kong. In 2018, she founded her fintech start-up, Sugar AI which was later integrated into bolttech.
Michelle joined IXT in 2022, helping IXT to expand its footprint to South Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia. She assumes the role as CEO of OneDegree Global in 2024, with responsibility for both the IXT modern insurance core solutions and Cymetrics cybersecruity services offered to insurers and enterprises around the globe. Michelle completed her Master’s degree in International Relations at the London School of Economics.
Fred Ngan, Co-Founder, Bowtie Life Insurance Company
Fred Ngan is the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Bowtie, Hong Kong's first virtual insurance company, on a mission to make health insurance simpler and more accessible. Bowtie is a leading insurtech company and ranks first in the direct insurance channel with around 150,000 customers.
Bowtie has provided USD $10 billion in coverage and raised USD $89 million from prominent investors, including Sun Life and Mitsui & Co.
A serial entrepreneur in the insurtech space, Fred previously co-founded two startups that successfully raised USD $75 million. His understanding of the insurance industry stems from his experience as a consulting actuary at EY, where he advised clients across offices in Chicago, London, Toronto and Hong Kong.
Fred is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and an Honorary Fellow of the Financial Technologist (FFT). He is an Honouree of the Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) HKU Chapter and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics with a double major in Actuarial Science & Statistics from the University of Waterloo.
Fred also actively contributes to shaping the future of the industry through his involvement on committees for the Financial Services Development Council (FSDC) and the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (HKFI).
