McGill, Salesforce use Agentic AI in London Insurance First
McGill and Partners, a specialty insurance broker, partners with Salesforce to launch autonomous agent platform in London market

McGill and Partners, a London-based specialty insurance and reinsurance broker, has become the first London market broker to implement agentic artificial intelligence technology through a partnership with Salesforce.

The implementation integrates Salesforce's Agentforce platform into McGill's proprietary digital system, Underscore.

Agentic AI refers to AI systems capable of autonomous decision-making and task execution, marking an advancement from traditional automation tools by incorporating context understanding and real-time processing capabilities.

Technology Integration

McGill's Underscore platform connects insurance distribution partners with London market insurers through a digital interface.

The integration of Agentforce aims to enhance the platform's automation capabilities in insurance placement processes, where multiple stakeholders collaborate on complex risk assessments and policy placements.

The system operates autonomously within Salesforce's enterprise software infrastructure, departing from conventional chatbot systems that follow predetermined response patterns.

This development reflects broader changes in the London insurance market, where digital transformation initiatives aim to modernise centuries-old trading practices.

Market Applications

The London insurance market processes substantial volumes of data through its placement and underwriting operations.

McGill's implementation focuses on streamlining these processes by enabling the AI system to handle routine tasks while preserving human oversight of strategic decisions.

Simon Bradbury, Chief Technology Officer at McGill and Partners, sees the implementation as part of the firm's broader digital strategy.

“McGill and Partners was built on a digital-first foundation, and the launch of our autonomous AI agent today highlights our commitment to innovation,” he says.

“As we embark on our Agentic AI journey, its capabilities will continue to advance, driving greater efficiencies, enhancing decision-making, and delivering deeper insights.”

The introduction of agentic AI into the London insurance market represents a shift in how brokers process and analyse risk information. The Underscore platform's expansion into these capabilities suggests a growing focus on technological solutions to address market inefficiencies.

Paul O'Sullivan, Salesforce

Paul O'Sullivan, Chief Technology Officer at Salesforce UKI, emphasises the technology's potential impact on industry practices.

“We are excited to support McGill and Partners' transition into the agentic-era by unlocking the unlimited potential of Agentforce,” he says.

“With the introduction of its autonomous AI agent into the workforce, McGill and Partners will be able to streamline processes, analyse data more effectively and unlock productivity gains for its best-in-class talent to set a new industry standard for the client experience.”

McGill and Partners operates as an independent specialty insurance and reinsurance broker with offices across eight countries, backed by Warburg Pincus private equity alongside founder and employee ownership.

Salesforce provides enterprise software solutions to global businesses, with a focus on customer relationship management and cloud computing services.
